The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also described as the Pacific Trash Vortex, is a gyre of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean.

The affect this has had on marine wild life is beyond words.

This pile of trash is visible from space!

  1. NASA can see it?

If only they had the resources and creativity to do something about it.

Then again, since when does a Fabian Socialist care about the environment, unless people are killed too quickly??? i.e. Hitler and his clan ....

    1. NASA is busy. They are trying to find us another habitat to destroy. Your daughter can hold a shovel; make her shovel shit.

Also, NASA is an organization, not a Fabian Socialist.

Also, if you sound out the words, it's not visible by plane, much less by satellite

  2. http://www.canplastics.com/links/ Share this information with this group so that their industry can take responsibility, clean this up and develop products that biodegrade very quickly.

  3. What happened to that turtle is very sad, but that is not a sea turtle. I'm sure there is too much garbage in the ocean, but if this garbage island that can be seen from space I'm sure we would have all seen satellite or even aerial photoes of it by now. I'm sure that garbage photo is of a dump somewhere and not of the elusive garbage island.

    4. Nothing about this island is "elusive", my friend. In fact, I will place s bet with you right now for $100,000 that it exists exactly where it is said to be. But who cares anyway, right? God put the earth here for us to use and abuse, so we may as well abuse it all up, right? I mean, it's gods plan, right?

Seems that there is such a place and it has been known since the late 1980's. Doesn't take long to look something up as a above.

    1. This is a government hoax.I was in the Navy Pacific Fleet for six years. We could find a Russian sub trying to hide from us in the ocean depths but we could never find this patch. Texas size? Really? Dont believe everything you read on the internet or in government schools.

  6. Thank God some people use the internet for more than farmville. Yes there is a garbage pile in the ocean. A garbage pile that could easily be removed . But that is not worth the trouble.

  7. Thank God some people use the internet for something besides porn and FB. Yes there is a floating pile of trash. A pile that could be easlie cleaned up. But that is not important.

    1. Could easily be removed by who? I surely don't know how I'd go about it or what I'd do with billions of pounds of plastic debris afterwards.

What is your plan and when will you start?

  8. Looking to see if a page exists then not actually reading it before you post makes you look the fool. If any of you HAD read the wikipedia entry you'd see it indeed says there is NO pile of trash or trash island. It's primarily suspended particulate.

  10. why not grind it up and turn it into an island then? Thats all Manhattan and Dubai are right and they are some of the most expensive land around.

  11. Now we're engineering our own salvation! An hour ago this same thing occurred to me but I take it one step further: Recycle it into faux-permafrost on a massive scale and use the shit to Patch the Pole! No more dark water warming acceleration, tipping point untipped, planet saved. I just postponed the next global anoxic event until AFTER we get the Star-Arks on route to Earth 2. Welx.

  12. Not to needlessly belabor the profound brilliance of the foregoing concept, but... Who agrees that far-future anthrosapien metahistorian evolutionary archaeologists will trace the miraculous prevention of a near-genocidal genetic bottle-neck to the above post. Unless we get an earth-burner from the Khyber Belt or Yellow Stone sharts in the middle of dinner. The conversation of the human species comes to an awkward grinding halt. Forever. Oh well.
